FAQ

What is Bone Broth?

Take Stock is made from roasting meaty bones, then adding herbs and vegetables, and intensely simmering for up to 24 hours. The product is then strained to leave a clear liquid; a deeply nutritious and delicious drink for sustainable nourishment.

Why consume Bone Broth?

It’s simply delicious and mega nutritious! Bone Broth is a foundational health food - a great source of protein and collagen. A nutritional powerhouse to make you feel great.

It is a great support for many diets including Keto (low carb), Paleo, Intermittent Fasting, 5:2, and Whole 30.

Why Take Stock Bone Broth?

It is the most nutritious natural Bone Broth you can buy. As well as a plethora of health benefits, Take Stock bone broth tastes delicious and has won awards for its outstanding taste.

Take Stock Beef Bone Broth has the HIGHEST protein and collagen per 100ml (3.7g and 3.4g) with the LOWEST calories (16 per 100ml), even compared to fresh non-shelf stable offerings.

Why is Take Stock bone broth so expensive?

Everything about our product, from the finest ingredients, to the elaborate cooking process and the innovative packaging, delivers a bone broth that is unbeatable in terms of flavour, nutrition and sustainability. Our award-winning premium bone broths are 100% natural, unlike many store bought alternatives. A real bone broth is high in protein and collagen, has no added yeast, fat, flavourings or stabilisers.

The average cost of one serving of Take Stock Broth (150ml) is £2, cheaper than a takeaway coffee or a protein bar, but is one of the most nutrient dense health food available! Plus, with rising energy costs, we estimate that if you were to simmer your own at home for 24 hours, this would cost an estimated £14.64 (according the the Centre for Sustainable Energy). And that's without the cost of the ingredients and time spent cooking and prepping. Food for thought.....

Is Take Stock Broth organic?

Organic certification is not common in Norway (where we produce Take Stock) because they expect all produce to be of the highest quality with minimal intervention.  In Norway, the smaller scale co-operative farms, expansive pastures and colder climate make prime conditions for healthy, well cared for animals. Norway has the lowest use of antibiotics in farm animals in Europe – 10 x lower than the UK average and 2.5 x lower than the Organic average.

Our beef is grass-fed, our chickens are raised without antibiotics, and no hormones or GMO feeds are used.

How do I use Take Stock Bone Broth?

Drinking bone broth is the most common way to enjoy this nutritious beverage, but there are plenty of other options to help get in your daily dose. We believe it is best enjoyed simply warmed and sipped from a mug, but it can be used as a hero ingredient to enhance any dish.

You can add it to soup, or mix it into risottos and stews. It can be taken between meals to fill a hunger gap or instead of tea and coffee as a caffeine free alternative. You can even add it to smoothies for a natural protein packed boost.

How many servings of Take Stock Bone Broth are there per carton?

This will depend on how you want to use our delicious bone broth. The most common way to enjoy it is to drink it from a mug, which we would say there’s four 125ml servings per carton.

Where is Take Stock Bone Broth produced?

We source and produce Take Stock in Norway.  Norway is consistently voted one of the world’s happiest countries thanks to their healthy-living outdoor lifestyle. Also, Norway has one of the best standards of animal welfare in the world;  smaller co-operative farms, more space and a colder climate which all come together to create prime conditions for healthy, well cared for animals. In the UK, organic animals get up to three courses of antibiotics a year. Our beef is grass-fed, our chickens are raised without antibiotics, and no hormones or GMO feeds are used.

How do you make Take Stock Bone Broth?

Our carefully sourced bones are first roasted in a hot oven to enhance the rich flavour of the broth, then mixed with vegetables and herbs and intensely simmered in a slow cooker for up to 24 hours to release all the nutrients. Other brands reduce their broth to a concentrated syrup, transport it to a packaging facility, and then over-dilute it to bulk out the product. This low intervention production method delivers a deep, rich, and authentic broth which tastes just as if we made it in our own kitchen.

How does Take Stock Bone Broth achieve a two year shelf-life?

The subtle heat of the simmering process enhances (not damages) the flavour of our BB, and with no preservatives or additives, we are the most flavourful and nutritionally packed Bone Broth out there.

Take Stock gently pasteurises the Bone Broth to ensure that it remains shelf stable for up to 2 years.

Following the simmering process, our Broth is packaged and sealed in our sustainable IPI packaging (100% recyclable and made 90% from recycled materials) in an airtight aseptic environment and sufficient heat is applied to ensure that it's sterile.
